Unexplained disconnection from Server task for ZMF4ECL users

Operating System(s)

  • Z/OS

  • ChangeMan ZMF
  • ChangeMan ZMF Client Pack

A customer is running their ZMF Server task with an SDNOTIFY (i.e. TIMEOUT) parameter set to 240,120. Therefore ZMF4ECL users should only time out after 4 hours inactivity. However, they are seeing instances of ZMF4ECL users being timed out and disconnected from the Server task in a much shorter period.

For one example, a user's ZMF4ECL Notification view shows that they submitted a promotion job at 11:55 which completed successfully at 11:56. However, it also shows that they received a SER200I (CMN Warning! 60 seconds before detaching inactive task: USER01 Tca=nnnnnnnn) at 12:45, 49 minutes later.

If a component edit session is open and the user attempts to save their changes they are prompted to logon again and the changes can be successfully saved. However, the customer has also reported they sometimes also see invalid CMN3090I (Edit in stage is in progress for <dsn.member> by another user) messages in this situation. The latter is cleared by pressing the OK key and the edit session is allowed to start.
