Description

 

The following pervasive issues have been identified in the ZMF 8.1.3 GA release. They cover problems in user variable translation and transition to the associated function and may result in, for example, component history records losing their user option data. Due to the potentially severe impact of these issues, Serena requires that customers apply the 8.1.3 hotfix attached to this solution. The fixes can be applied at any time to resolve the issues. We recommend doing so at the earliest opportunity in order to minimise any discomfort or data loss that the problems may cause.

 
The hotfix contains fixes for the following issues:
 
1) DEF301904 - 8.1.3 report variables may be corrupted prior to report execution
2) DEF301920 - 8.1.3 recompile and other functions may incorrectly clear all associated user option fields
 

Resolution

 

PLEASE NOTE: These problems and the associated fixes apply to ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.3 only. These problems do not exist on other releases of ChangeMan ZMF and the fix modules are incompatible with all other versions of the product. Do not apply these fixes unless you are executing a ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.3 release. These problems will be fixed in ZMF 8.1.4.

 
Attached to this Solution you will find a file named V813 Hotfix for S142137.exe. This can be downloaded to your desktop machine. The file is a self-extracting ZIP file. Executing the zip file will prompt the user for a password which is SERENA (all uppercase).
 
Once complete this will have generated another file named V813.HOTFIX.LOAD that should be transferred to your mainframe in binary format to a dataset with LRECL=80 and RECFM=FB.
 
Issuing a TSO RECEIVE on your mainframe against the transmitted file will create a program object library containing the fixed modules, CMNFREZE, CMNGNRPT, CMNPROMO, CMNRAPRM, CMNRCKIN, CMNRCOMP and CMNRELNK, which can then be installed into your product libraries following your usual process. The ZMF Server started task will need to be restarted to complete installation.
 
These fixes can be applied to the ZMF 8.1.3 subsystem at any time. However, any lost data will have to be recreated in the appropriate manner (e.g. by re-executing the recompile function and re-specifying the component user options).
