Description

The following pervasive issues have been identified in the ZMF 8.1.2 GA release. They cover problems in data conversion from earlier releases of ZMF, package installation, housekeeping and increased memory usage in Global Resource Serialization. Due to the potentially severe impact of these issues, Serena requires that customers apply the 8.1.2 hotfix attached to this solution. Preferably this would occur prior to running the ZMF 8.1.2 conversion jobs. However, they should be applied even if conversion has already occurred.

The hotfix contains fixes for the following issues:

1) DEF292806 - 8.1.2 conversion jobs CMVCONV5, CMVCONV6 and CMVCONV7, will corrupt the short component master, when upgrading from releases prior to 7.1.3
2) DEF293091 - 8.1.2 P site not submitting CMN20 job after CMN21, when package developed on earlier version instance
3) DEF296332 - 8.1.2 scheduler failing to submit package installation jobs (added 25th January 2017)
4) DEF296693 - 8.1.2 component lock issue after upgrading to ZMF 8.1.2 from a release below ZMF 8.1.0. (added 17th February 2017)
5) DEF291742 - 8.1.2 S0C7 abend in CMNBAT10 during housekeeping (added 17th February 2017)
6) DEF297026 - 8.1.2 GRS memory growth problems (added 17th February 2017)

Resolution

PLEASE NOTE: These problems and the associated fixes apply to ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.2 only.  These problems do not exist on other releases of ChangeMan ZMF and the fix modules are incompatible with all other versions of the product.  Do not apply these fixes unless you are converting to a ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.2 release. These problems will be fixed in ZMF 8.1.3.

Attached to this Solution you will find a file named V812 Hotfix for S141939.V3.exe.  This can be downloaded to your desktop machine.  The file is a self-extracting ZIP file.  Executing the zip file will prompt the user for a password which is SERENA (all uppercase).

Once complete this will have generated another file named V812.HOTFIX.LOAD that should be transferred to your mainframe in binary format to a dataset with LRECL=80 and RECFM=FB.

Issuing a TSO RECEIVE on your mainframe against the transmitted file will create a load library containing the fixed modules, CMNBATCH, CMNBAT10, CMNCP810, CMNCP811, CMNCP812, CMNFIXCV, CMNSCHED, SERNTFYP and SERVDLAY, which can then be installed into your product libraries following your usual process. The ZMF Server started task will need to be restarted to complete installation.

Ideally you will need to apply these fixes prior to performing the Package and Component Master data conversion for D and DP Sites (i.e before executing the relevant CMVCONV5, CMVCONV6 and CMVCONV7 jobs that are supplied in the delivered CNTL library). However, if data has already been converted and this is no longer possible, you will still need to apply these fixes to all ZMF subsystems and environment types (i.e. ALL, D, DP and P sites).
