Description

As documented in DEF284711 (Components not being 'rippled' by CMN30 and CMN55), a problem exists in the distributed ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.1 release that can result in components of some library types not being ‘rippled’ at baseline (CMN30) or backout (CMN55) time in the expected manner.  In turn, this could compromise the integrity of the components residing in baseline libraries, especially where package backouts have occurred or where users need to work on –X versions of components.

This KB article contains a fix for the problem that should be applied to all ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.1 systems in a timely manner and before implementation of 8.1.1 into a live environment wherever possible.

Resolution

PLEASE NOTE: This problem and the associated fix applies to ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.1 only.  The problem does not exist on other releases of ChangeMan ZMF and the fix module is incompatible with all other versions of the product.
Do not apply this fix unless you are using ChangeMan ZMF 8.1.1.

Attached to this KB article you will find a file named de284711.exe.  This can be downloaded to your desktop machine.  The file is a self-extracting ZIP file.  Executing the zip file will prompt the user for a password which is SERENA (all uppercase).  Once complete this will have generated another file named DE284711.LOD that should be transferred to your mainframe in binary format to a dataset with LRECL=80 and RECFM=FB.  Issuing a TSO RECEIVE on your mainframe against the transmitted file will create a load library containing the fixed module, CMNVPIJB, which can then be installed into your product libraries following your usual process.

After installing the fixed module, to correct the installation JCL for any packages currently in FRZ or APR status you will need to use the F5 or A5 functions, respectively, on those packages.
