CMS-XML KM-Dim9: Can users upgrade/patch Oracle Run Time Binaries provided by Serena?
If the customer has their own Oracle installation then the answer is yes. With the Oracle Run Time Binaries there are files missing from the full installation that the upgrade/patch will be missing and errors will arise. R&D has recommended upgrading the Binaries and follow Oracle's directions in the README.
CMS-XML Release Automation: Can I use the Serena supplied Oracle Runtime for the database?
Unfortunately, it is not possible to use the Oracle run time binaries supplied by Serena with the Serena Release Automation application, the licensing agreement with Oracle does not allow it to be used for anything other than Dimensions. Customers utilizing the Serena supplied Oracle run time must download MySQL ( http://www.mysql.com/ ) or purchase Oracle ( http://www.oracle.com ) before installing Serena Release Automation.

If a Microsoft Loopback Adapter is not the primary adapter, when you install the Serena RDBMS you will receive a warning about a prerequisite check failure. If you proceed with the installation it will complete successfully. However, when the DHCP-assigned IP address changes, the Oracle Net Listener will no longer work and will have to recreate it using the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant tool:
