The SerenaLicenseServer.log is overwritten each time the Serena License Server is restarted
When you restart the Serena License Server, the existing SerenaLicenseServer.log file located in the License Manager directory is overwritten and all log information is cleared. Is there a way to retain this information?

You can also use the ip address instead of the server name if necessary. After restarting the license server should come up.

Serena License Server will not start and log showing garbage characters
If you still can not rename the log file, be sure to kill all instances of the Merant.exe process and try again. This should free up the log and allow you to successfully restart the License service.

On the Serena License Manager machine, in Control Panel> Administrative Tools> Services, verify that the Serena License Server service is running. If the service is running, try stopping and restarting the service.

If problems still persist, a new license file may be needed. To have keys regenerated or deactivated, you will need to contact your Support Sales Representative. Once the new keys are received, apply them as instructed and stop/ restart your License Server .

PVCS Version Manager returns message that it could not connect to the specified license server, or that the license has expired
vmreg LicenseServerDefinition If the error is seen by a user of the VM I-Net Web Client, Eclipse RIDE with server-side processing, Visual Studio RIDE with server-side processing, or a WebDAV client, be sure to make this change on the VM server machine and restart the PVCS Version Manager Web Application Server or Serena VM Web Application Server service. Should the steps above not work, use the following ones to manually modify the initialization file so it has the proper information.
