CMS-XML Smart search indexing failing when attachments are included
Unable to complete Work Center smart search indexing due to failures on indexing attachments. This causes the search in Work Center to not return items. The ssf.log has errors that say:

CMS-XML Work Center search does not find restricted attachments - notes and files
(2) Change the search behaviour - you will also need to restart Tomcat: "\SBM\Common\Tomcat 7.0\server\default\webapps\commonsvc\WEB-INF\classes\config.properties", option "lucene.searchRestrictedAttachments=false".
CMS-XML URL attachments and restricted attachments no longer returned in Work Center search results
To add them to search results, perform the following steps:

There are no errors that can be seen in the logs. If you update the item though, then the next index update will pick this up and it will become searchable .
CMS-XML Smart Search does not return attachments if keyword is at end of long document - only first 1000000 characters are indexed by default
