Deployment Views can be opened from several places in the Desktop Client. However, if your client dm.cfg is not configured correctly the links might not work correctly.
The solution in this instance was to comment out the following entry in dm.cfg which attempts to connect to an external URL on the Micro Focus website: DM_WHATS_NEW_ONLINE_URL https://admhelp.microfocus.com/dimensionscm/en/14.5.2/QuickTours/whatsnew/index.html
When Dimensions connects to the Tomcat server, such as when the build is started by the Desktop Client, the server uses symbols in the dm.cfg to locate the address of the Tomcat server. The lines which Dimensions checks are: DM_BUILDERWS_URL http://<servername>:<port >
When the dm.cfg file field DM_WEB_URL has a space at the end of the line eg: DM_WEB_URL 'http://<servername>:8080 ' This causes the desktop client to hang if the "whats new" banner still opens with the client.
Is it possible to set up the dm.cfg file in such a way that the system will be able to be intelligent and know that if its on Win2K it should look for MS Word in c:\foo while if it’s on WinXP it should look in c:\bar?
Role management in the desktop client has been enhanced in Dimensions 9.1.3 to allow the Administrator to restrict users from viewing objects owned by Products for which they do not have a role. This new functionality can be enabled by setting the following symbol in the dm.cfg file on the server:
