SLM: How to access the Serena License Manager through a firewall / What TCP ports are used by the Serena License Manager?
This can be done by changing the license file. This file is located in the License Manager installation directory on the server, and can be changed with a text editor. The default locations are:

How to change the License Server used by PVCS Version Manager
will be the IP port that the SLM server is listening on. If no port is specified, VM will try all ports in the 27000-27009 range, which are the default ports used by SLM servers. If the SLM server has been modified to use a port outside of this range, be sure to specify this port.

These are two different port numbers (one port number on the SERVER line and a different port number on the VENDOR line). Check with your network staff to make sure the ports you select are NOT already in use. After making the changes , save the file and restart your license software.

If you need to change the SMTP port from the default of 25 using an older SLM release, then you will need to set the environment variable _JAVA_OPTIONS and assign it the value -Dmail.smtp.port=25 replacing 25 with whatever port you want to use.

Dim 12: Specifying port number in license server string during installation creates incorrect entry in dm.cfg
When installing Dimensions and specifying a license server that runs on a specific port (e.g. the license server is specified as <port>@<server>), then the resulting dm.cfg entry is updated so that DM_LICENSE is incorrectly set, i.e.: DM_LICENSE @12345@myserver This is incorrect, and requires manual editing post-installation.

SLM: Certain clients sometimes/consistently cannot connect to the License Server, especially from remote locations
Change the SLM server configuration so that the main (lmgrd) server is always using the same port . You can pick the default value of 27000. For detailed instructions, please see KB article S136346 .

To change the port that the lmgrd process of SLM uses, or to fix the port for use through a firewall, add the port to the end of the SERVER line in the license file. Valid port range is 1025–65534. For example, to use port 27005, make changes as follows:
