After a fresh Dimensions CM 14.1 installation and attempting to run the VRS Upgrade tool, an error message of Error: Failed to query requiring data upgrade can occur
When running the VRS upgrade, the following error may occur: DBA3200266E Failed to initialize the VRS: MDHVRS3202117E: Data duplication in name store .... and the error message includes the path/filename of an item stored in Dimensions which includes a bad character indicated by question mark (?) character.
The upgrade scenario in this instance involved the export/import of Dimensions CM Base databases from the production machine to a test machine. One of the steps required following the import is the following command:
Contact support for a sql script with workaround to backup and clear TS_REPORTS.TS_SPECIFICATIONS2 before upgrade and restore it after upgrade , which requires manual execution of SQL queries before and after upgrade .
DIM10: Upgrade to Dimensions CM 10, now gets error when browsing change requests: SQL -24812(4207) ORA-24812: character set conversion to or from UCS2 failed
The problem was originally caused by trying to run upgradevrs as system. The subsequent "alias connect" will not clear the error condition because the incorrectly translated query has already been cached.
