If your Oracle listener were configured to require a password before accepting a connection , Dimensions would most likely not work as there is no way to have the Dimensions listener provide the password to the Oracle listener. The Dimensions listener is the only component of Dimensions that will attempt to connect to the Oracle listener, thus you may take any steps you wish to keep other systems and other users or processes from connecting to the Oracle listener directly and those steps will not impede Dimensions operations.

Use dmpasswd to register the correct password. If a typing error caused this problem you may not know the old password and dmpasswd will require the old password in order to modify the password . If this is the case, rename the file $DM_ROOT/dfs/registry.dat to something like registry.old.
