If you import data into the Application Administrator via an excel spreadsheet then if you are updating an existing record then some field types are marked as updated in the change history, when they have not been. Specifically numeric, single selection and single relational fields all indicate that they have been changed in the Change History when the data being imported is the same as already in the field on the item.
You ONLY need to install the framework itself. You don't need to import the solution into the Application Repository or do anything with the newer forms. Simply installing the 5.x framework will address this problem.
