Installation fails on 'Creating Database...' and you are unable to connect to Oracle: ORA-12570: TNS:packet reader failed The options "Install Dimensions Oracle 8.1.5.0.0" and "Create Dimensions Oracle Instance " get installed without any errors but the installation of Dimensions fails on 'Creating Database...' and trying to connect to Oracle using SQL*Plus brings up the following errors: User: system / Password: manager
Scenario: Two machines running Dimensions 7.1 on UNIX(Solaris 8). From the server machine a fetch of items using Motif client and command line(pcms xcmd <filecontainingcommands>) items are successfully extracted to default workset location. Performing the same steps on second machine the fetch process appears to 'hang'.
No information is returned to the user indicating that a problem has occurred. The dataset simply fails to expand the member list. Performing the same action from both the RDz RSE perspective and CMN ZDD works in this scenario.
By doing this no connection is made to the database in order to scan for new client upgrades and as a result the dmupgradesrv.exe process starts briefly and then stops again. The error messages above are caused by other Dimensions CM Client installations polling the server to see if there are any updates, and these connection attempts fail because the dmupgradesrv.exe
