SERXMLRC may complete with return code 8 if stem variable not suffixed with period/dot/full stop/.
On more than one occasion customers upgrading from CMN ZMF 5.5.2 or earlier to 5.5.3 or later have reported unexplained return code 8 errors from their custom SERXMLRC-based procedures. Research has shown that one potential cause is the failure to suffix their stem variable allocations with a period /dot/full stop (i.e. '.'). Whilst this was incorrect it appears to have been acceptable prior to the release of CMN ZMF 5.5.3.

Even if they enter additional fields on the LIST panel the search takes a very long time. Most searches take over 10 minutes to complete , while others sometime time out with an abend. The customer even tried the 'QUERY PKG' function and it too is slow.

A reindex is necessary for the Work Center Search Facets for the Application. Depending on the size of the table this reindex could take a while to complete . Whilst it is being run any new items added to the primary table cannot be found in a Work Center search.

SSM832 Enhance run times of housekeeping jobs, and keep STC's active during backups.
program HPSBACK sets a flag, to indicate to the active started task(s), that a backup is being requested. The started task will then close the VSAM files to allow a non-RLS backup to take place. Once the backup has completed , the HPSBACK program is used to clear the backup -in-progress flag, and allows the started task to re-open the VSAM files. The started task will then resume processing events for Change Tracking.
