How To: Setting up Tracker email notification with MS Outlook
|
Most users have Outlook running continuously. If they start Tracker while Outlook is running, they are able to automatically login to Outlook through Tracker and send out email notifications.

Analysis: If Outlook XP/2000/98 is used as the mail client for PVCS Notify with Microsoft’s Security Update (SR-1), a message prompt pops up every time Notify attempts to send out a mail/notification, with the following message:

The user is prompted to verify identity of e-mail source, for every notification. If Outlook XP/2000/98 is used as the mail client for PVCS Notify with Microsoft's Security Update (SR-1), a message prompt pops up every time Notify attempts to send out a mail/notification, with the following message:

Users using OUTLOOK 98 version 8.5.7714.0 have this problem. This version is a patch that was created by OUTLOOK. It is an attachment security check designed to catch the "I Love You" virus.

Under the following environment, TRK 5.0.00 / Win 95 wksta/ NT 4.0 server/ SQl 6.5 / MS Outlook 5.5.5.1.4.6, Tracker users can receive the following message when sending manual email notification to a particular user's email address.
