CMS-XML KM-Dim9: What's new in Dimensions 9.1.2: Performance/Scalability Enhancements
Obviously the level of improvement seen will depend on your hardware, operating system, network and general environment. As an example, in a test environment where 20 users concurrently performed many Dimensions operations, this led to a five-fold improvement in response times. Another example of the scale of the improvement is that during testing when the Dimensions server and client were on the same local area network, Dimensions out performed both FTP and a Windows Network file copy on the same test data.

How Redudant Arrays of Inexpensive Disks (RAIDs) affect Oracle RDBMS performance when running on Windows NT 4.0/2000, and how to optimize for different database processes running with RAIDs.
CMS-XML KM-Dim10: How to generate and update database statistics used to improve query execution
When Oracle is optimizing the execution of database queries Oracle likes some information about the tables and database structures involved. Oracle will calculate and reference certain statistics in order to make better decisions about query optimization. Keeping the statistics up-to-date helps to improve Oracle performance.
CMS-XML Dim: Using dm_make over a Wide Area Network (WAN) will yield slow performance
The dm_make component and the included Automatic Dependancy Generator (ADG) have not been optimized to perform well over Wide Area Networks (WAN). Both dm_make and ADG make extensive use of Remote Procedure Calls (RPC) to determine which is the most recent revision of a file and if that is the revision presently in the working directory. Further, files are retrieved and examined one at a time.
