When the system is setup to use LDAP/Active Directory authentication, users will be able to log into Mariner/PPM using their LDAP id and password . The advantage to this setup is that Mariner/PPM will automatically use the same password rules as your existing LDAP server. For example, passwords may be set to expire every 90 days, require special characters, or require a minimum length, etc.
Mariner/PPM allows you to store users/ passwords inside of the PPM database or to authenticate using your existing Windows or LDAP servers. If your company uses LDAP/AD to authenticate with Windows, you may be wondering the difference between these two options. Both allow you to log into PPM using your existing LDAP/AD login name and password.
