The workaround is to use the JRE that comes with Version Manager 8.1.4. You can do this as follows:

This is fine as long as the username is created in uppercase only in Version Manager . If the user in VM is created in lower or mixed case a new named license (if available) or a concurrent license will be used, as the username passed to license server is not being translated into uppercase correctly.

Out of the box, SLM clients (Dimensions CM, Dimensions RM, PVCS Version Manager , SBM, TeamTrack and Tracker ) connect to the lmgrd process by trying all ports in the 27000-27009 range on the specified SLM server.
