There are different reasons why this error may occur, but the most common is that too much (or not enough) of the key was copied /pasted into the License Manager. CMS-XML The Software Licenses and Download site (SLD) asks for an SLM License Server HOSTID value. What should be put there? How should the generated key be applied?
This should be License Server HOSTID value that the Serena License Manager (SLM) shows. As of SLM 2.3.0, the HOSTID value can be put in your Clipboard for easy pasting by pressing the Copy HOSTID to Clipboard button:
