CMS-XML KM-Dim10: Reported Defect DEF112936: Get_version.sh fails due to java error
# java -version java version "1.5.0_07" Workaround:
CMS-XML Click "ALERT: A57" for Java 1.7.x updates solutions for Serena web clients using the Java plug-in may randomly stop working after 14 January 2014.
Due to security enhancements that have been added to Java 7 as of update 25, the release of a new JRE on Oracle's website will automatically block certain features in the older versions of Java plug-ins that may be installed on your system. These blocked features will prevent the web client of certain Serena products from working, such as Dimensions CM and PVCS Version Manager. If you are using Dimensions CM, please see Knowledgebase Solution S140201
CMS-XML Dim12: With JRE7 dialogs in web/admin console are not automatically closed
After installing the 32-bit version of the Java 7 build on an XP machine and have noted the following: One example of this is when you add or remove a group from a user in the adminconsole. Typically when you click the 'OK' button in the Edit User window after adding or removing a group from the 'Groups to assign' field, the Results screen displays, the user is updated, the results window closes, and the adminconsole window is refreshed.
CMS-XML DM Java 7 Update 21 and Java 6 Update 45 try to block the web client applet as being potentially unsafe
Disable the dialog in the Java plug-in by hiding the mixed code warning: Please note that this workaround affects all applets, not just the ones used by Version Manager. (If you are interested to learn why this error now suddenly comes up, see Mixing Privileged Code and Sandbox Code , in particular the statement: "As of Java SE 7 update 21, JavaScript code that calls code within a privileged applet is treated as mixed code and warning dialogs are raised if the signed JAR files are not tagged with the Trusted-Library
