Tip 1: Always use the root, relative, or query property
CMS-XML MCLG: Using dbquery component to display data of type Clob from Oracle doesn't work with 9i client.
If you use the dbquery component and try to display data of type Clob with Oracle the 9i Oracle client doesn't support this and the results will always come back blank. The options are to either change the data type to varchar or nvarchar or use the oracle 10g client. That may not be an option though if connecting to a 9i server.
