Cannot start Serena Web Service either through services panel or command line. When trying to start , service promptly dies. Removed and reinstalled the service manually, but problem still persist.
This is not actually a process, but a shell script, run_servers.sh, that needs to be executed. The process cannot start as a daemon since it is Java based and Java doesn't support the ability to run as a daemon.
The path to the executable for the 'VCS NT Service' service points to an invalid directory within the Services Panel of Windows 2000. The directory is no longer valid or has been deleted. The service cannot be started , removed or the path to the executable cannot be changed.
started and odbc driver may test connection successfully. Error/solution reproduced with MS SQL back end. Switching service log on id makes no difference, even when Local System account is used as service log on
