If you install SSM 5.3 with SBM 11.2 or 11.3, the SLA service is removed from the Manage Services tab in SBM Configurator.  This is caused by a defect in SBM that  is scheduled to be fixed in SBM 11.4.

SSM 5.3 is the first SSM release that uses the SLA engine provided by the SBM platform.  In SSM 5.3, the service is started automatically via a Configurator plugin after you click Apply  in SBM Configurator.  However, because the service is not accessible from SBM Configurator, you cannot easily start/stop the SLA service.

To work around this problem, you can stop or pause the service manually by setting the sla_paused entry to 1 in the file on the Notification Server.  The file is located here:

C:\Program Files\Serena\SBM\Common\tomcat\server\default\webapps\notificationsrv\WEB-INF\classes

Note that if you stop or pause the SLA service this way, the change is automatically reverted back to 0 the next time you click Apply in Configurator.  This means you must manually set the pause status to 0 after you click Apply if you want the SLA engine stopped.
