Description

Announcing Oracle 19c support for Dimensions CM 14.5.1 on Windows and Linux

We are pleased to announce Oracle 19c support for Dimensions CM 14.5.1 on Windows and Linux. Please note Oracle 19c is NOT supported for earlier versions of Dimensions CM as a patch is required to enable support and this has only been made available for CM 14.5.1.

It is also NOT possible to install directly into an Oracle 19c database as the installer will not recognise the 19c ORACLE_HOME. Full installer support is coming with the CM 14.5.2 release. For CM 14.5.1 we have released the attached updated DBIO libraries so that users can migrate their existing database to 19c. To install follow the steps below.

1.       Copy the 2 files for your operating system to your Dimensions CM Server.

For Windows, copy the files into your $DM_ROOT\prog\ directory on the Dimensions CM server

For example copy into C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\Dimensions 14.5\CM\prog

For Linux, copy the files into your $DM_ROOT\lib folder on the Dimensions CM Server

2.       Stop the Dimensions CM listener

3.       Perform the database migration to Oracle 19c and update any configuration files if the ORACLE_SID has changed

4.       Edit the dm.cfg configuration file on the Dimensions CM server to set the DBIO_LIBRARY variable to point to the new libraries

For example on Windows edit the file C:\Program Files\Micro Focus\Dimensions 14.5\CM\dm.cfg

5.       For a Windows Oracle 19c Unicode UTF-8 AL32UTF8 database edit the existing DBIO_LIBRARY line to be

DBIO_LIBRARY  dbio_srv_oci8_19300.DLL

6.       For a Linux UTF-8 AL32UTF8 database edit the existing DBIO_LIBRARY line to be

DBIO_LIBRARY  libdbio_srv_oci8_19300.so

7.       Restart the Dimensions CM listener and verify you are able to connect to Dimensions CM
